The EdVenture Group, Inc. received a $19,358 grant from the EQT Foundation to bring STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programming to two rural Pennsylvania schools. The program, EQT STEM Days, will expose students in grades 3-6 to hands on activities in coding, robotics, makerspaces, and STEM careers of the future. Approximately 300 students from West Greene Elementary Center and Bobtown Elementary School will participate. Workshops will be held in September 2019.
“The EdVenture Group is excited to work with both West Greene Elementary Center and Bobtown Elementary to provide engaging STEM opportunities for students and teachers,” said Dr. Lydotta Taylor, President, The EdVenture Group, Inc. “We appreciate the funding provided by EQT and believe that projects like this create excitement and enthusiasm for STEM in a child’s life and the classroom.”
Under the direction of Amber Ravenscroft, Manager of Innovation, The EdVenture Group will facilitate all aspects of the project at both elementary schools. EQT STEM Days are designed to introduce students and teachers to a variety of engaging STEM activities that can be implemented within the classroom. By creating hands-on STEM stations where both students and teachers can interact with new technologies and identify their links to the future of work, the program is designed to foster new mindsets in rural areas.
“We are very excited for this opportunity for our students and staff as we look forward to expanding our existing STEM program at Bobtown Elementary,” said Rick Menear, Principal at Bobtown Elementary School. “We appreciate the continued investment that EQT has provided.”
