Pathways to Literacy Project
The Pathways to Literacy Project helps support literacy education by providing an outdoor experience for students, their families, schools, and the broader community by establishing a StoryWalk®. A StoryWalk® is where pages from a children’s book are attached to stakes or signs and placed along a path outside. As they read together, students, families, and educators connect with one another, and interact with prompts and sensory activities along the way. Incorporating nature into youth educational and community experiences has been shown to increase emotional well-being, academic achievement, and belonging. Currently, this project is being developed for a school in Fayette County.
