Big Idea is where dreamers like you can shine! You don’t need to have the tools or cash to build it yet – all you need is that genius idea. Whether it's a next-level app or an invention that could change the world, this is your chance to pitch your vision and bring your imagination to life.

Make money from it.

Small Business is your shot to launch a small business right in your community! Whether it’s selling homemade jewelry, starting a coffee shop, or any cool business idea, this is all about creating something real that you could kickstart locally. If you've got the hustle, we want to hear your plan!

Round 1 Deadline
Students must register through the VentureDash portal and submit their first-round requirements by December 5th.
Semi-Finalists Notified
Semi-finalists will be notified by December 15th via email.
Round 2 Deadline
Semi-finalists must submit their round two submissions, including a pitch deck and Lean Canvas, by January 31st.
Finalists Announced
Finalists will be notified by February 20th via email and engage in individual coaching in preparation for live finals.
Live Finals
Finalists will present their ideas live to a panel of judges during Bridging Innovation Week 2026 on April 29th in Morgantown, West Virginia.

We are currently seeking dedicated judges from various professional backgrounds to evaluate student ideas and provide valuable feedback. Your expertise will help inspire and motivate young minds as they develop their business concepts. By becoming a SparkWV judge, you will not only contribute to the success of students’ growth, but also play a key role in strengthening West Virginia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and network with like-minded individuals. 

What’s involved? 

  • Reviewing student businesses: Evaluate the creativity, feasibility, and potential impact of each idea. 

  • Providing feedback:Offer constructive suggestions and encouragement to help students refine their concepts. 

  • Selecting winners: Help determine the most promising ideas and award prizes.
