Calhoun RISE (Recovery, Integration, and Sustainable Employment) is part of a nearly $11 million award package and will strengthen Calhoun County’s recovery-to-work ecosystem.

The EdVenture Group has been awarded $469,893 by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to implement Calhoun RISE (Recovery, Integration, and Sustainable Employment). Calhoun RISE is a partnership between EdVenture, the Calhoun Family Resource Network (FRN), and other community organizations.

The program is designed to strengthen Calhoun County’s recovery-to-work ecosystem through a comprehensive, community-centered approach, expanding recovery pathways, and creating sustainable employment for individuals at all stages of the recovery journey. The award is part of a recently announced nearly $11 million package through ARC’s Investments Supporting Partnerships in Recovery Ecosystems (INSPIRE) Initiative, which addresses the region’s substance use disorder crisis with investments that strengthen services in the recovery ecosystem and helps facilitate workforce entry and re-entry.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how this project creates positive change in our community. My hope is that it not only provides immediate support but also leaves a lasting impact by empowering individuals and strengthening connections. I believe the work we’re doing will touch lives in meaningful ways and help build a stronger foundation for the future.”

The proposed project, Calhoun RISE will strengthen Calhoun County’s recovery to work ecosystem through 5 strategic components implemented over three years to address the county’s barriers to employment. See graphic below:

  • Integrate a social worker to support efforts of the Calhoun FRN
  • Recruit and establish a Peer Recovery Support Specialist cohort
  • Develop and implement a work readiness and essential skills program
  • Establish an Employer Partnership Program
  • Launch a community education and anti-stigma campaign

"The EdVenture Group is grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Calhoun FRN and the many organizations committed to this work. Calhoun RISE was built with the community at the center: expanding recovery supports, strengthening employment pathways, and creating connections that help individuals move forward with confidence. As an education organization, we know strong families and a strong workforce benefit students, and our team is ready to listen, collaborate, and help strengthen the incredible work already happening in Calhoun County."
