The EdVenture Group announces the 2025 SparkWV Competition Winners

The final round of the 2025 SparkWV Competition, held during Bridging Innovation Week in Shepherdstown on April 30, brought together the best and brightest student entrepreneurs from across West Virginia. From groundbreaking ideas to creative small businesses, these student teams wowed judges and attendees with their innovation, passion, and drive. After months of hard work and two rounds of competition, the winners of this year’s SparkWV competition have been announced.

The 2025 SparkWV competition reached 120 middle and high school students across 20 West Virginia counties to bring over 80 unique ideas to life. The final round composed of 12 individual business ideas pitching in two tracks:  

SparkWV empowers the next generation of West Virginia innovators by giving students the tools, support, and stage to turn their bold ideas into real-world impact. We are proud to celebrate the students who are shaping the future of our state.” 

Big Idea Track:

These students tackled real-world problems with innovative, scalable solutions. Big Idea winners included: 

  • 1st Place ($1,500): F.R.E.E. (Flood Release Emergency Exit) – Bridgeport High School FFA Chapter 
  • 2nd Place ($1,000): Mingo Medical Solutions – Mingo Central Comprehensive High School 
  • 3rd Place ($500): Webster Wellness Works – Webster County High School 

Small Business Track:

These students presented real, viable businesses with strong community potential. Small Business winners included: 

  • 1st Place ($1,500): Take 3 Photography – Bridgeport High School 
  • 2nd Place ($1,000): AT Woodwork – Herbert Hoover High School 
  • 3rd Place ($500): Sigley Aerial Services – Hundred High School 

In addition to track winners, the 2025 SparkWV Competition offered several additional investment opportunities through partnerships with Jumpstart Savings Program and BCT: Bank of Charles Town. The Jumpstart Savings Program is an initiative of the WV Treasurer’s Office and is designed to help people who enter and complete trade or vocational school to save money to support their careers. BCT is a full-service community bank offering financial services to the Eastern Panhandle.  

 Additional Investment: 

  • Jumpstart Award ($500): AT Woodwork – Herbert Hoover High School 
  • BCT Investment ($500): Stitch Studio – Fleet Home School 

In partnership with WVU Industrial Extension, SparkWV announced the first ever Level Up Award. The Level Up Award recognizes a high school student or team demonstrating exceptional entrepreneurial promise in the field of manufacturing. The award provides subject matter expertise and individual coaching for emerging entrepreneurs.  

  • Level Up Award: Sabor de Venezuela – Oak Glen High School 


On behalf of the We Love Together team out of Ravenswood High School, an anonymous donation was also made to the No Hunger Food Pantry in Ravenswood.  

“It was so exciting to listen and learn from these young entrepreneurs. Their ideas really addressed a variety of needs that exist in our communities, and I'm inspired by their motivation to meet those needs.” 

The EdVenture Group celebrates each student who participated in the 2025 SparkWV Competition. Their unique ideas, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit made this year’s competition the most inspiring yet.
