July 17, 2024 – Morgantown, WV – The EdVenture Group, Inc. has received an $8,000 award from the First Energy Foundation to support the organization’s career readiness efforts. The award will bolster career awareness, exploration, and education for rural students to build a competitive workforce across the Appalachian Region.

‘We are deeply grateful to the First Energy Foundation for their generous support of The EdVenture Group’s career readiness efforts. This funding will enable us to provide rural students with the essential skills and opportunities they need to succeed in high-growth, high-wage industries.”

First Energy Foundation’s funding will be utilized to support a three-tiered intervention model that builds capacity for rural school districts to implement meaningful and impactful career programming. Middle schools (Grades 6-8) will focus on career awareness and literacy efforts. Early secondary (Grades 9-10) will emphasize career exploration, employability skills, and youth leadership development. The emergent workforce (Grades 11-12) will prioritize career development, including certification and credentialing opportunities, career coaching and planning, and innovation training.

The EdVenture Group’s career literacy efforts not only aim to enhance educational outcomes but strive to create a pipeline of skilled workers prepared to meet the demands of today’s job market.
